About the press

A small press with a long string

Kitewire Press is an independent British publisher. We make two kinds of book: practical technical books that you can trust to work, and bright, warm books for children.

That might sound like an odd pairing. We think it isn't. A good antenna manual and a good picture book have the same job: to take something that looks hard or strange and make it feel possible, one clear page at a time.

Our shelves

  • Radio & Antennas. Practical antenna books for radio amateurs, modelled, built and tested before a word goes to print.
  • Cyber Security. Clear, hands-on guides for the people who keep systems and data safe, by Eoin Kohl. Coming soon.
  • Business. Straight-talking books on running, growing and protecting a business, by Eoin Kohl. Coming soon.
  • Children's Books. Bright, warm picture books and stories for curious young readers, written by Anika Moorhen. Coming soon.

Our authors

  • Eoin Kohl writes our technical books: the Aerial Works series for radio amateurs, built and tested in a UK back garden, with cyber security and business titles to follow.
  • Anika Moorhen writes our picture books and stories for young readers, coming soon.

How we work

Technical titles are checked against the real thing. In the Aerial Works series, for example, every antenna is modelled in NEC2 and built in a UK back garden before it reaches the page, and every regulation is dated and referenced.

Our books are printed on demand in large-format full colour and published as Kindle editions, so they are never out of stock and never pulped.

Why “Kitewire”?

A kite is a lovely thing that only flies because of a well-made wire. That's the balance we aim for: books with lift, held steady by care.
